Round 3
28 April 2002
Donington Park
A bad Dunlop tyre which was the wrong size forced me to qualify 3rd on the grid. I was convinced that with the right tyre I would have been on pole position. The first four riders on the grid all managed to qualify under the lap record and it was Tom Sykes who was the pole sitter.
A torrential rainstorm just before the race caused it to be very wet and they were difficult racing conditions. I got a great start and was in 2nd place on the first lap. Making the move into the lead the tricky wet conditions caught me out and unfortunately I crashed out of the race. The race was later abandoned after a few laps and the remaining riders were awarded half points. Tony Waistnage won the race. |
