Round 5
02 June 2002
Snetterton
It was a very hot and humid weekend which made it difficult for all the riders. I overcame that and managed to qualify 4th and on the front row of the grid again. A massive crash in morning warm up for Tony Waistnage forced him to retire from the race and pushed me up to 3rd for the race.
My team mate Tom Sykes took the lead as Craig Jones followed. Craig then overtook and left Tom and I to catch him. As the oil flags came out I had just made a pass on Tom at the end of the back straight. As I was in front of Tom I unfortunately hit the oil first and crashed right in front of him at high speed. His fast reactions meant that he just missed me. I got back on the bike and soldiered on to finish 17th going underneath the lap record. Craig Jones went on to win. |
