Mallory Park

A good result at Oulton Park left me quietly confident about Mallory, my home circuit. Things didn't go as well as I expected. With me living 10 minutes away from Mallory I had a lot of people coming to watch and support me that weekend, so I desperately wanted to do well. Qualifying 3rd behind Craig Jones and Tom Sykes was ok but I knew I had to get away with them in the race. I got the best start of the season until Brad Howell managed to run into the back of me after about 100 yards. This dropped me down to 7th position in the first lap. I fought my way back up to 3rd through some desperate manoeuvres, but by this time Sykes and Jones had already pulled away by three seconds on the first lap which was a massive gap to make up.

Trying to make up the time my rear tyre started to slide and I was not able to run at the pace they were. James Buckingham was right behind me in 4th and pushing me all the way to the finish. I hadn't made a mistake all race until the last corner on the last lap, which resulted in me finishing 4th much to my disappointment. Tom Sykes won the race against Craig Jones in a hard fought battle.
