Donington Park
I was really excited that the R6 Cup had been organised to be a support race at the MotoGP round at Donnington, where there was an expected crowd of over 100,000 people.
The organisers of the R6 Cup had decided to add and extra round to the R6 Championship and rather than travelling to Mondello Park in Ireland they planned to have two races at the Donnington meeting.
Knowing that my final position in qualifying would stand for both races, I wanted to continue my run of front row qualifications. I did exactly that by qualifying third behind Kieran Clarke and Peter Ward.
I got off to a bad start and had dropped back to fifth position going into the first corner. I stayed in fifth for the first four laps before passing Benjie Cockerill to move into fourth position. I closed the gap between myself and the third place rider Tommy Hill, and continued to battle with him until the last few laps of the race. I finally managed to pass him on the penultimate lap and finished a comfortable third, behind Kieran Clarke and Peter Ward.
