Round 07
24/26 June 2005
Knockhill
Knockhill is a great little circuit in Scotland which everyone enjoys going to. On Friday I was really pleased with practice as my arm didn't feel too bad and I was in the top five on the time sheet and I was really looking forward to the next two days.
Saturday qualifying went ok. I ended the days sessions in Seventh position, which I was a little disappointed with, but I knew I was fast enough on race tyres to be up there with the leading group.
Having made a lot of progress in the morning I was eager for the race to start, maybe too eager as I jumped the start and finished up getting a 20 second penalty. I don't think I deserved it really as I stopped again and went into the first corner 12th and never made an advantage at all.
By the end of lap 3 I was up to 4th place on the track but on the time sheets was actually down in 24 th position. Just after the race was red flagged for a rider incident which meant we had to re-start the race.
I started the race back in 24 th on the grid which was a shock as I was that far back I could hardly see the lights! I looked behind me and saw two people and that was it, I thought this is going to be hard!
When we set off I made a good start and forced my way through. By the end of lap 1 I was 17 th , so I had started to make in roads.
It took me a long time to get into a rhythm and start closing the better riders down and with 2 laps to go I passed Simon Andrews for 8 th place.
I came across the line in 8 th and was pretty pleased with that from the back of the grid and with an injured arm.
A bit of a break before Snetterton was what I needed to let my arm heel! |
