Round 08
08/10 July 2005
Snetterton
After Snetterton last year I wanted to go there and prove a bit of a point and try and get some valuable points. On Friday practice I struggled a little bit to get the bike set up and turning how I wanted it too.
I was nervous on Saturday as in knew the bike wasn't how I wanted it and I need to qualify well. The problems got worse and I was down in tenth place. I went out with my last tyre on and could have made the front row if the session wasn't red flagged half way around my lap. I was really disappointed and was still struggling with the bike.
We decided over night to change the folks over to some 20mm cartridges which worked as in morning warm up I felt it was a little better.
The race came and I was nervous as I knew I could do well but had to start from 10 th . The first lap was great and I got myself up to 5 th straight away when on lap 2 the red flags came out and we had to start again.
This time I got an average start and stayed in 10 th . I had to battle my way through to 7 th and was riding a lonely race trying to catch Jamie Robinson who was 2 seconds ahead. I was getting closer and closer when we passed another rider which put me to 6 th.
I had 5 laps left and my team mate Craig Jones crashed and the Stuart Easton crashed too. I was now 4 th with 2 laps left. I rode my heart out to pass Jamie on the last lap and get 3 rd position.
I felt great after such a bad weekend To stand on the podium again was good and I want to do it more often now.
I would like to thank all of my team and my own personal sponsors too!
P.S. We stayed over the next day to do some more testing of those folks, got them dialled in perfect and went 4 tenths faster than I did in the race! |
