Silverstone
Going to Silverstone fresh from my World Supersport experience was great as I was ready for a good weekend's racing.
It started well with me being in the top 3 in Friday's practices and on Saturday I qualified 5th for Sunday's race. At that point I was disappointed with not being on the front row but then again I had a decent run to the first corner from 5th.
I got a good start and immediately went to 4th on the first lap, then to 3 rd . Suddenly the bike started to loose a bit of power and I couldn't quite stay with the leaders as it got worse ever lap. The bike was jerking and not really going anywhere. On lap five I came out of the first corner and the bike just completely died and lost power. I was gutted, until I noticed that the Red Flag had just come out and that I would be able to get on the spare machine and on the grid. I managed to get the bike back to the pits and swapped bikes for the restart of the race.
When we got off again for the second time I got another good start and held my position and started to make some inroads and passed 4 th and then into 3 rd again. It was a very close battle and one little mistake and you would be taken by at least 2 riders. At half race distance I was 3rd and passed to go in to 2nd , and made a real effort to close down on my team mate Craig Jones who was leading. Within 2 laps I was on the back of him. I tried my hardest to pass him but couldn't as I had used so much tyre up trying to catch him.
Pere Riba came passed me and then passed Craig straight away too. I was 3rd on the last lap. We entered the tight Abbey hairpin 4 a breast and in was ad ual to the finish line.
I went across the line in 3rd and was very pleased with the result as I had just raced on the spare bike and wasn't very familiar with it.
A great job by all the team and I was looking forward to Cadwell Park the next weekend! |
