Round 10
27/28/29 August 2005
Cadwell Park
A circuit I love and was really looking forward to going to. Friday was great; I got up to speed with the track and enjoyed the day. I finished the sessions 1 st in the morning and 2 nd in the afternoon but very happy with them.
Saturday qualifying went even better with me topping both time sheets and grabbing my 3 rd pole position of the year, and going under the lap record by nearly a second.
Race day I was nervous, as I knew I had a great chance of winning the race but just wanted it so bad. I got off to a very poor start and went straight back to fifth on lap one. I made a pass and went to 4th , when Leon Camier highsided in front of me and me and Craig Jones just missed him. I suddenly found myself in 2 nd chasing down leader Stuart Easton.
The race was then red flagged as someone has crashed into Camiers bike. We had to make another restart and Camier was able to make the grid. I made another poor start but only went back to 3rd this time.
I passed Camier for 2 nd on the first lap and chased down again leader Stuart. I followed him for about 4 laps and passed him into Park corner.
I then made a bid to get away which I did breaking the lap record by half a second on that lap and pulling out a lead of nearly 3 seconds with 3 laps to go.
I slowed my pace down and just concentrated on finishing the race which was very hard as I couldn't concentrate thinking what if something's goes wrong, but it didn't and I took my first supersport race win in 2 years and enjoyed every minute of it!
A fantastic weekend, Pole, Race win, and a new lap record!
The whole team done a fantastic job, Gary Ekerold, Pete Jennings, Paul Morton and Rob Davies!
I move to 3rd in the championship and go to Oulton confident as ever! |
