Round 11
09/11 September 2005
Oulton Park
Oulton is another fantastic circuit that I really enjoy racing. At the last Oulton Park round earlier on this year I was leading the race for most of the race but ended up finishing second due to my rear tyre going off. This time I wanted to win!
Practice and qualifying went very well and I dominated every session. I took pole position by nearly half a second and was way under last years lap record.
I got a good start in the race but I got cut off at the first corner and had to back off slightly. I was third at the end of the first lap and was leading by the end of the second lap. I was keen to pull out a gap and kept a close eye on my pit board.
On lap five I only had 0.5 of a second gap over my team mate Craig Jones so I got my head down and put in a few hard laps which were underneath my pole position time, and 0.9 tenths under last years lap record.
I broke away from the group behind me and managed to keep increasing my lead.
With one lap to go I had a 6.3 second lead and was really enjoying the race. All I had to do was keep my concentration to the line. I slowed down on the last lap to make sure nothing went wrong and I won the race by nearly five seconds and took my second supersport win in a row.
After getting pole position, fastest lap and the race win at the last round at Cadwell Park , I was really pleased to get all three again at Oulton. I was also really happy to be awarded the Bennetts Rider of the Day.
I am now third in the championship and am closing on my team mate for second in the championship. Let's hope I can continue my success at Donington Park next time out!
I would like to thank all of the team for there effort at Oulton Park! |
