Brands Hatch (GP)
Brands was always going to be the decider for our championship as Supersport is always so close.
I knew that to have any chance of third in the championship I had to finish strong.
Saturday qualifying went well and I managed yet another front row start in fourth position, which I was happy with as it was on the inside of the track for the first corner.
I got off to a good start and was 2nd into the first corner. I managed to maintain my 2nd place for the next 3 laps when I rode over the rumble strips at the first corner and it spat me out of the seat. The front wheel took a good bash and after that I had not a lot of feel or grip off the front tyre so I slipped back to 4th.
I stayed with the leading group until lap 11 of the race then the problem got worse and I dropped off the group. I just kept thinking to myself, get the bike home and one of the riders in front will go out. My prediction was right and one did go down which promoted me to third when the race was red flagged.
I was a little disappointed with what happened but that's just racing and I finished the season very strongly. I finished joint 3rd overall but on paper Stuart Easton got it as we both had two wins each, he had two 2nd places and I had one, which is a bit harsh but I tried my best and I will have to have a proper go next year!
